The BCHS Health Navigator (also “the App”, the “Navigator”) respects the privacy of its users.

You should not use the App if you do not agree with this Privacy Policy. If you any concerns related to privacy and the use of this App, we encourage you to reach out to the Southlake Privacy Office at 519-751-5544 ext 2556 or via email at Privacy@bchsys.org All incidents will be handled in a confidential manner. If you are not satisfied with the response of the BCHS Privacy Office, you may wish to escalate your incident to the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario.

User Behaviour

BCHS reserves the right to perform statistical analysis on user behaviour and characteristics associated with App. This aggregated information will be used for quality improvement (e.g., to measure interest in and use of the various tiles of the App to improve design and navigation) as needed. Only aggregated data from these analyses, and not personally identifiable data, will be used for this purpose.

Cookies

Some features of the Navigator use cookies that are stored with your device’s browser storage. A cookie is a small text file sent from a Web server and placed on your computer’s hard drive. A cookie is generally used to enhance your browsing experience. You can choose to set your browser to detect and reject cookies, to accept cookies from all sites, or to prompt you whenever a site wants to send you a cookie. If you choose, they may be used to ‘remember’ your password and make it easier and faster to log-in to certain sites. Check your browser’s “Help” files to learn how to do this. If you choose to refuse cookies, you may not be able to access some of the interactive features of the Navigator or on our websites.

Cookies used by the Navigator, do not give BCHS access to anything on your hard drive and cannot affect your device(s). BCHS applications use two types of cookies: session cookies (temporary) or persistent cookies (longer-term continuing use).

Session cookies may be used to support on-line feedback/discussion, forms and registration and ‘e-commerce/shopping cart’ transactions – they are used only during your online session and expire when you close your browser. Without session cookies, moving around our Web sites could be much slower

Persistent cookies are different from session cookies because they are stored on your computer’s hard drive for some length of time – they are usually used if you want us to remember information about your Web preferences (e.g. large font) and passwords for automatic log-in purposes
